Not every message needs to go out the moment you write it. If you want an email to land with a patient at a particular time, such as first thing in the morning or once your practice has closed for the day, you can schedule it to send automatically at a later date and time. This works the same way as sending an email straight away, with one extra step to set when you want it delivered.
Note
Scheduling is only available for email. If you're sending an SMS to a patient, click Send to send it straight away.
-
Open the patient profile.
-
Under the Contact Details section, click the patient's email address. (If the patient doesn't have an email address on file, add one here first.)
-
In the pop-up, enter your message. (For the full list of options, such as adding a communication template, subject line, or attachments, see Send an individual email or SMS to a patient.)
-
Next to Send, click the dropdown arrow, then select Schedule Send.
-
In the pop-up, enter the date and time you want the email sent.
-
Click Schedule.
You have successfully scheduled your email to send to this patient.
Tip
Want to double-check on a scheduled email, or resend it? Run a communication report to see the send status of any email. See article: Report on emails.
